Iranian journalist Saeed Kamali Dehghan, who writes regularly for the Guardian, has been named as journalist of the year at the Foreign Press Association awards. Following the disputed Iranian presidential election in 2009, Dehghan covered the mass protests from Tehran for the Guardian.
He subsequently made a film for HBO with Anthony Thomas about the life and death of Iranian protestor Neda Agha-Soltan, which won the TV Feature/Documentary category in this year's FPA awards. Thomas and Dehghan jointly won the top prize of journalist of the year.
