A married couple search for their missing sex tape in this dreary excuse for a comedy, writes Mark Kermode

'Irritatingly coy': Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel in Sex Tape. Photograph: Claire Folger Photograph: Claire Folger/PR

I counted three laughs in this wannabe bawdy comedy of errors, and one of them was a Breaking Bad gag so far past its tell-by date that even I got the joke. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the movie – Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz play a married couple who rekindle their dormant love life by making a sex tape, which they accidentally upload to "the cloud". Cue a night spent chasing gifted iPads and breaking into the offices of YouPorn. The subject matter sounds racy, but the film is as depressingly dreary as the couple's pre-tape sex life; for all its faux vulgarity, this is irritatingly coy, and the performances are just... well, irritating. Rob Lowe comes out of it best as Diaz's not-so-clean boss, and the length of Spielberg's Lincoln gets a duly dishonourable mention.
