Following the success of One Direction – who had two US No 1 albums – another UK boyband are trying to cement their success in North America. The Wanted have signed a deal for a US-based reality show, shot at a shared house in the Hollywood Hills.
"I don't think there's anything off limits to be honest," band member Siva Kaneswaran told E! Online. "We'll let everything be exposed." E! will air the series this summer, modelling the programme on another tale of real-life British crossover: Chasing the Saturdays, based on the English-Irish girlband, debuted there last month.
Unlike the Saturdays, though, the Wanted – who are managed by Justin Bieber's consigliere, Scooter Braun – have already tasted success in the US. Their 2011 single Glad You Came reached No 3, though their last two efforts – Chasing the Sun and I Found You – managed only No 50 and No 89. That means the Wanted are now playing catch-up with One Direction.
The Wanted are older than One Direction – their average age is 23, instead of 20. And so their profile is a little more naughty, with reports of drinking and parties, stoking interest in a reality series. Band member Max George was recently rumoured to be dating Lindsay Lohan.
The Wanted Life will begin its run in June, ahead of the band's third album and a subsequent world tour. Last month, Tom Parker suggested the Wanted could release yet another LP before the end of 2013. "We've written quite a lot of songs this year," he told Billboard.
