Pamela Anderson is set to join the cast of the upcoming Baywatch movie, despite recently claiming she wasn’t a fan of TV remakes.
The star, who played CJ Parker in the original show, was announced as part of the cast via a post on co-star Dwayne Johnson’s Instagram. “We couldn’t have made this movie without you,” he wrote.
Anderson’s decision to join the film is in marked contrast to her comments in an interview last month, when she claimed to have little interest.
“They called me and asked me to be in it, but I haven’t decided yet,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I don’t like remakes of TV shows and I kind of want to leave it as is and be remembered for that. I don’t know if I want to go on Baywatch and be, like, the old lady working at a counter somewhere.”
Anderson’s last big-screen appearance was in the 2008 spoof Superhero Movie. She joins fellow original cast member David Hasselhoff, who will be making a cameo appearance. Her character, CJ Parker, will be played by Kelly Rohrbach, while other roles will be filled by Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra.
The film has been billed as an “edgy, raunchy and hopefully funny as all hell” take on the TV show about a group of lifeguards working in Los Angeles.
